Kapama Private Game Reserve
Kapama is a 12 000 hectare game reserve situated near Hoedspruit, 45 kilometers to the west of Kruger National Park. The reserve is unique for its sweeping views of the Drakensberg Mountains.
With sweeping views across a tranquil lake, Kapama Lodge (5 star graded) is the epitome of a luxury accommodation. Twenty spacious, air-conditioned, en suite thatched chalets, decorated to reflect the rich textures of Africa, are set in tranquil indigenous gardens.
The tea deck is a relaxing venue to observe an abundance of birds in their natural habitat or to enjoy cocktails on a balmy evenings, while the library and lounge offer a warm welcome on cool winter evenings. Superb gourmet meals are served in the main dining room, the boma or in a secluded bush venue under a star-studded sky. Accompanied by highly skilled game rangers, guests set out on early morning and evening game drives, to discover the wonder of the African bush and a unique encounter with its majestic inhabitants. An elephant back safari is an optional extra exclusive to Kapama Game Reserve guests.
Excellent conference facilities, which include state-of-the-art equipment, offer corporate visitors a unique bush venue. Kapama Game Reserve remains the finest incentive destination in the region, the reserve adjacent to Eastgate Airport, can offer both land and water activities and can integrate 12 highly trained elephants into a unique incentive experience. Numerous entertainment areas are available in addition to the lodge areas and include Rhino Inn and Elephant boma.
Reminiscent of an East African safari camp of old, Buffalo Camp offers visitors a unique and intimate experience of the African bush. It is ideally suited to those who wish to discover the bush without compromising on comfort.
Eight luxury canvas tents, each accommodating two guests, are set on stilts amongst the canopies of ancient trees which line a seasonal river. Each of the en suite tents are inter connected with wooden walkways, which run high above the riverbed. Landscaped by mother nature herself, the entertainment facilities which include lounge, dinning room and boma are surrounded by an indigenous garden.
A tranquil swimming pool lies tucked away and provides the perfect spot to while away idle moments between dawn and evening safaris, for the more adventurous join your ranger on a bush walk. An elephant back safari is also available to Kapama guests.

KAPAMA RIVER LODGE
Each spacious room at Kapama River Lodge features a full en-suite bathroom and terrace with uninterrupted views into the leafy-green Big 5 game reserve. The central guest entertainment areas include a large rim-flow swimming pool with sun umbrellas and recliners for lazy afternoons. The long L-shaped relaxation lounge and bar under a double-volume thatch, curves around the pool and on either side is a huge double-sided fireplace creating a wondrous open-plan yet cosy atmosphere. The Rhino Boma dining area with tables arranged under a low thatch in a horseshoe curve, has a central open space where a roaring outdoor fire gives a glow to evening meals. Buffet-style meals introduce African flavours with Pan African dishes using fresh local ingredients and specialist dishes featuring venison like kudu and impala.
Kapama River Lodge is so named because it lies in a curve of the Kapama River, which is usually dry but floods from time to time and can reach the steps of the lodge swimming pool. A small permanent water source lies just beyond Kapama River Lodge perimeter fence attracting animals like antelopes, elephant and buffalo. Watch this truly African spectacle from the warm blue water of the big rim flow swimming pool, or relax in the shade of an umbrella on loungers around the pool.
