City Break
Weekend in Riga : 3 days / 2 nights
DAY 1 : Arrival to Riga.
Transfer to your hotel TIA*** or Domina Inn Riga****.
Afternoon walking City Tour of Riga. Riga has numerous ways of enticing visitors through its rich history, architecture, spacious gardens and parks, museums, art galleries, world-class opera...and daily treats like a walk in the enormous and colorful central market or a visit to a cozy café, club or pub...
The tour includes the most significant landmarks of Riga and begins along its central boulevards. On the walk you will enjoy the view of the City Canal parks, the Art Nouveau buildings of the beginning of the 20th century, and the Opera House. In the Old Riga you will see the Dome Cathedral, the Church of St. Peter, the old Guild Houses, the Swedish Gate, the architectural ensemble Three Brothers, St. Jacob's Church, the Parliament House, the Old Riga Castle, and view the many beautifully restored buildings now housing cozy restaurants, cafes, bars and souvenir shops.
DAY 2 - Riga - Gauja National Park - Sigulada
Morning tour to Gauja National Park (50 km from Riga), often referred to as Latvian Switzerland. Gauja National park includes the valley of the Gauja River, which together with its tributaries forms a particularly picturesque landscape. The area comprises more than 500 monuments of archeology, architecture, and history dating as far back as the 11th century.
Enjoy beautiful vistas of the Gauja River Valley, visit the 13th century Turaida Castle, now housing a small History Museum, and take a relaxing walk in the adjoining Sculpture Park, which features works of Latvian sculptors.
Dinner at a traditional Latvian restaurant in the heart of Riga's Old Town.
Optional: This evening you may also wish to visit a concert, an opera or a ballet performance.
DAY 3 : Riga
A day on your own. Discover your Riga at your own pace. Interesting and numerous museums of Riga could keep you busy for a whole day. Those who opt for a relaxed day may just sip Latvian beer at a sidewalk open-air café-bar in the Dome Square and engage in people-watching.
